Afghanistan is facing one of the world’s most complex and prolonged humanitarian emergencies, characterised by escalating armed conflict, displacement and natural disasters. Maternal mortality in Afghanistan is among the highest in the world and gender-based violence is widespread, affecting millions of women and girls across the country. UNFPA is investing in integrated sexual and reproductive health services and addressing gender-based violence in Afghanistan. Youth issues are a priority across both areas.
Results data are reported and updated as they become available.
- Targets and UNFPA's populations of concern, including women of reproductive age and pregnant women, are estimated using the MISP calculator.
- Funding estimates are based on country planning processes, including inter-agency humanitarian response plans and regional refugee and resilience plans.
