Angola Humanitarian Emergency

Climate shocks, particularly below normal levels of rainfall, are driving food insecurity in Bié, Cunene, Huila and Namibe provinces in Angola. Humanitarian needs are compounded by difficulties in accessing health services. UNFPA is working closely with provincial governments, UN agencies, community-based organizations and other partners to ensure that reproductive health is integrated into the emergency response. UNFPA’s humanitarian action includes distribution of hygiene kits, training of community mobilizers and provision of information on sexual and reproductive health, including prevention of HIV/AIDS, and gender-based violence.
