South-South Cooperation Project Intern

Duration: September-November

Time: The work can be part time or full time depending on the availability of the Intern, however a minimum of 3 days a week would be required, with an expected amount of approximately 21 hours per week.
 
The Intern will be expected to come to UNFPA HQ a minimum of 3 days a week.

Position Summary

The South-South Project is aimed at mainstreaming South-South and Triangular Cooperation into UNFPA’s organizational design and operations, including programming, technical assistance, M&E, communication, and resource mobilization. Within this context, the intern will provide support to generate e-learning on South-South Cooperation for UNFPA staff.

Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Coordinator of South-South and Triangular Cooperation initiatives and the Senior Advisor, the intern will assist the South-South Strategy and its related activities to be held in 2015.

This role will specifically support the South-South Project focusing on a key aspect of the plan; assisting in change management activities including communicating the SSTC Plan within UNFPA and addressing development needs associated with designing communication tools for UNFPA staff.  The position also involves the provision of administrative support to the South-South Project.

Upon completion of the assignment, the Intern should be able to:

1. Gain an increased understanding of the UN system
2. Understand the SS Cooperation principles and operational implications
3. Learn human resources technical language and working procedures
4. Write and formulate key reporting and communication documents
5. Network with UNFPA Colleagues
6. Work as a team member in a multicultural setting
 

Requirements

Education

-Preferred advanced degree in HR, communications, social sciences, business administration or related field desirable.

Qualifications and Experience

-Experience in supporting project management and implementation of initiatives is desirable
-Competence in the delivery of innovative and cost-effective HR Services in a complex multicultural environment is desirable;
-Excellent writing and communication skills
-Knowledge of social media  and traditional media applications is desirable
-Excellent client service skills;
-Ability to integrate in teams.

Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English.
