The Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health (ASRH) and Youth Programme Specialist is responsible for the management, implementation and coordination of programmes that relate to ASRH and Youth development in the country office. S/he provides technical guidance and support to staff to ensure a particular focus on adolescent and young people’s needs and subsequent incorporation in national and sub-national policy and programme documents. S/he also plays a proactive and critical role in the design, implementation and monitoring of the Joint UN Programme of support for HIV in the country. 

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

-Masters degree in population, demography, public health and/or other related social science field.

Knowledge and Experience:

-5 to 7 years with increasing professional experience and responsibilities at the national level, in the field of development and population activities, and a particular focus on ASRH and Youth programming.

-Strong results-based programme management experience with particular focus on strategic planning and capacity building;

-Working knowledge of other UN languages is desirable.

-Proven ability to produce demonstrable results;

-Strong analytical and leadership skills

-Strong verbal and written communication skills

-Ability to plan, organise and multi-task;

-Short-listed candidates may be required to successfully complete a UNFPA position related written test;

Languages:

-Fluency in written and spoken English is required.   Knowledge of  a second UN language is an asset.
