The Position:

Under the direct supervision of the UNFPA Deputy Representative, the Humanitarian Resilience Coordinator contributes significantly to humanitarian resilience programming, preparedness and response in close coordination with the programme team in the country office and provincial offices.  They carry out timely and effective humanitarian cluster coordination, ensures results based management of contingency plan, and provides quality technical support and surge capacity to provincial offices.  They establish and maintain collaborative relationships with UNOCHA, health and protection clusters, and counterparts in government, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donor agencies and civil societies.

Job Purpose:

In a highly complex operating environment, the Humanitarian Resilience Coordinator will play a key role in promoting partnership and strategic alliances with counterparts in government, multi-lateral and bi-lateral agencies and civil society in humanitarian resilience building in Pakistan in close collaboration with the programme team in the country and in provincial offices. They carry out timely and effective coordination, ensures results-based management of contingency plans, and provides quality technical support to provincial offices.  They establish and maintains collaborative relationships with other relevant UN agencies, relevant sub-working groups, and counterparts in government, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donor agencies and civil societies. 

 

Qualifications and Experience: 

 

Education:  

 

Advanced university degree in public health, sociology, demography, gender, economics, international relations, international development, public administration, management or other related field;

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • At least 5 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the field of development, preferably with experience of working in a humanitarian context at the international level. 
  • Field experiences in humanitarian resilience, in SRH and GBV will be an asset. 
  • Knowledge of Pakistan's humanitarian landscape, population dynamics and socio-cultural issues is preferred. 
  • Proven ability to design innovative strategies to achieve demonstrable results.
  • Great familiarity with IASC and the cluster coordination mechanism and practical coordination experience as cluster lead is an asset;
  • Excellent communication skills in speaking and writing in English.
  • Strong results-based management skills
  • Strong interest in development work, especially the mission of the United Nations Population Fund and dedication to the principles of the United Nations.
  • Computer skills: Proficiency in current office software applications.
     

Languages: 

Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of other UN languages would be an asset.
