Join the high-level conversation on anti-racism led by Dr. Natalia Kanem, Under-Secretary General of the United Nations, and Executive Director of UNFPA, on Wednesday, 09 March at 7:00-9:30 a.m. ET.

The conversation aims to secure greater knowledge of and respect for the diverse heritage, culture and contribution of people of African descent, and particularly women, to the development of societies. Delinking race from a destiny of discrimination and poverty are fundamental starting points for building more inclusive, just societies, and realizing the commitments of the 2030 Agenda.

The international community is recognizing that people of African descent represent a distinct group whose human rights must be promoted and protected. Around 200 million people identifying themselves as being of African descent live in the Americas. Many millions more live in other parts of the world, outside of the African continent. For instance, in Latin America and the Caribbean, UNFPA has amassed significant knowledge and experience in reducing inequalities and promoting the rights of the most excluded population groups.

The panel event will cover conversations on anti-racism to convey the importance of VISIBILITY: See Us, INCLUSION: Hear Us and PARTICIPATION: Count Us In to advance progress for a more sustainable and inclusive society.
