Record orders with the Global Fund

In 2021, the Global Fund procured more than 400 million male condoms, 1.4 million female condoms, and 150 million water-based lubricants. Among the top countries receiving the supplies are Malawi, the Democratic Republic of Congo,  Vietnam, Mali, and Mozambique. Last year, the team at UNFPA working with the Global Fund placed 56 orders for over 16 million USD, with an average response of order turnaround of five days.

Expanding access through pooled procurement

Because of the increase in procured volumes, UNFPA obtained lower prices, which resulted in savings of over USD 230,000 over a commodity value of USD 15.8 million. These savings could potentially provide more than 58,000 additional couples with one full year of protection with male condoms or  8.4 million additional male condoms for Global Fund-supported programmes.
