Recognizing the important role civil society organizations play in advocating for the ICPD agenda and the value of their insights for shaping the future of the agenda, UNFPA on 12 June 2023 hosted an online consultation of global and regional CSOs on the 30-year review of the ICPD.

“It is a long process, from now to the 30th anniversary of ICPD and beyond. We need to work together. We must make the ICPD simple, understandable and usable by the young generation and generations to come,” Diene Keita, UNFPA Deputy Executive Director, urged participants.

The session focused on the relevance of the ICPD3O review and reflected on progress in achieving the ICPD Programme of Action along with the challenges and opportunities presented by the current global landscape. CSO representatives learned more about the scope and process of the review, including opportunities for their engagement and partnership at national, regional and global levels.

Further discussion focused on specific moments and events in the ICDP30 journey in which civil society partners can participate in the review, mobilize allies and influence and contribute to the advancing commitment to the ICPD goals and Sustainable Development Goals.
