Latest assessments following the earthquakes on October 7 and 11 2023 have reported 1,480 fatalities and 1,950 injuries. Satellite imagery indicates that 513 villages were impacted. Approximately 43,400 people across six districts were directly affected, with Injil and Zindajan districts suffering the most.

UNFPA's Herat Earthquake Response Appeal estimates a requirement of $11.6 million for scaling up interventions over the next nine months to reach 318,000 affected people. UNFPA and its NGO partners have so far reached 43,928 affected people with maternal, reproductive health, psychosocial support services, and the distribution of essential supplies and kits.
