In July and August, there was a significant increase in attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, resulting in loss of life, widespread damage, displacement, and heightened humanitarian needs. Approximately 6.2 million people have been forced to leave Ukraine, with an additional 5.1 million internally displaced. Within Ukraine, an estimated 14.6 million people require health assistance, and 14.7 million people need protection services. Among them, 3.6 million individuals urgently require gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response services.

Across the region, UNFPA and its partners trained over 1,660 people to enhance sexual and reproductive health services, with an additional 100 people trained to improve GBV. UNFPA, along with its partners, has also distributed nearly 3,290 dignity kits, serving as a first entry point for further services and assistance.

UNFPA has established 24 new Service Delivery Points (SDPs) during July and August 2023, bringing the total number of SDPs supported by UNFPA in Ukraine to 94. These SDPs are primarily located within hospitals, especially maternity facilities, where healthcare professionals offer specialized and confidential aid to those affected by GBV, including conflict-related sexual violence. Additionally, in Ukraine, more than 100 mobile psychosocial teams have been deployed, providing over 5,800 psychosocial consultations during July and August 2023.
