Türkiye Earthquake Situation Report #6 - 03 August 2023

Resource date: Aug 2023

EN

Six months after the devastating earthquakes in February 2023, health and protection infrastructure and services remain critically impacted. Approximately 9.1 million people were directly affected by the earthquakes, with 3 million forced to leave their homes and seek refuge in formal or informal settlements.

Urgent efforts are needed to address water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), and protection assistance to improve the living conditions in these tent settlements. UNFPA's response includes distributing maternity kits and other reproductive health commodities, such as essential drugs, medical equipment, and contraceptives.

UNFPA has also deployed mobile and static outreach teams and service units to provide crucial reproductive health services and address gender-based violence.
