United Nations Population Award Ceremony to Honour Former UNFPA Executive Director, African Health NGO

UNITED NATIONS, New York — Winners of the 2015 United Nations Population Award will receive their awards this week at an official ceremony at the organization’s headquarters. The laureates were chosen by the Committee for the United Nations Population Award from among several international nominees for their outstanding work in population and in improving the health and welfare of individuals.

The Committee includes 10 United Nations Member States, with UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, serving as its secretariat.

• Thoraya Ahmed Obaid, former Executive Director of UNFPA (Saudi Arabia)
African Population and Health Research Centre (Kenya)
