Statement by UNFPA Executive Director, Dr. Natalia Kanem, on the Ethiopian Airlines Crash

United Nations, New York, 11 March 2019 —On behalf of UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, I offer my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, which went down outside Addis Ababa yesterday. We are greatly saddened by the devastating loss of life, and our sympathies go to the people and government of Ethiopia and to the people and governments of the bereaved nations whose citizens were among the victims. 

We convey our condolences and solidarity to the United Nations agencies who lost staff members in this tragedy. We stand together in honoring the lives and noble service of our departed colleagues.
