The Position:

Under the supervision of the Humanitarian Analyst, the SRH associate will support the CO to efficiently implement the maternal health and midwifery programme of activities under KOICA project and the country programme document, which is related to SRH, midwifery and safe motherhood. In particular, the SRH associate will provide support to the CO in administration of KOICA project to improve access to comprehensive integrated sexual and reproductive health services to enhance the well-being of Afghan Refugee and host community women and girls in Iran.

Job Purpose:

As of October 2023, Iran officially became the largest refugee-hosting country globally, with 3.4 million refugees and Afghans in refugee-like situations out of a total estimated Afghan population in Iran of at least 4.5 million. 

As a Sexual and Reproductive Health Associate at the UNFPA Iran country office, the primary responsibility is to contribute to the successful implementation of the "Improve Access to Comprehensive Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health and Protection Services, including Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services to Enhance the Well-being of Afghan Refugee and host community Women and Girls in Iran" project. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of initiatives aimed at advancing sexual and reproductive health for Afghan refugee and host community women and girls. Your work will involve collaborating with various stakeholders, including government entities and non-governmental organizations, to ensure the delivery of high-quality services. Additionally, you will contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities and providing technical expertise to address the unique challenges faced by vulnerable populations, thereby promoting comprehensive well-being and resilience. By fulfilling this crucial role, you will be instrumental in shaping positive health outcomes and fostering empowerment within the target communities.

You would be responsible for:

Under the supervision and guidance of the Humanitarian Analyst and working closely with relevant implementing partners, the Programme Associate (SRH) will perform the below programme support tasks. 

  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of detailed work plans with the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, including activities related to maternal health and training of Afghan refugee women.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure the timely completion of tasks, adherence to deadlines, and alignment with project objectives.
  • Assist in efficient financial management, monitoring and reporting of work plans related to SRH, maternal health and midwifery. 
  • Assist in preparation and timely submission of quarterly and annual programme and financial reports. 
  • Assist in regularly updating and reporting on the progress of work plans, identifying potential delays or obstacles and proposing solutions.
  • Provide support to IPs to develop work plans, submit FACE forms timely and follow up on disbursement and timely reporting. 
  • Maintain regular communication with implementing partners and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and follow up on project activities, ensuring that partners are aware of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Ensure timely submission of the technical SRH reports by IPs and relevant consultants and assist in reviewing, proofreading and revising SRH related reports/publications to ensure quality.
  • Ensure timely and quality preparation of minutes of meetings as part of the monitoring tool for tracking follow up actions.
  • Participate in field visits and relevant events/meetings supported by UNFPA to monitor the implementation of KOICA project, and collect relevant data and documents, as necessary, and prepare reports.
  • Assist in translation and preparation of communication material related to KOICA and humanitarian projects as requested for website, and other communication activities
  • Assist in organizing training activities, events, workshops, webinars (i.e. taking care of event logistics, collecting relevant training materials, identifying resource persons, acting as a resource person, as appropriate)
  • Assist in Procurement and Logistics task of KOICA and humanitarian projects
  • Assists in the preparation of donor financial and progress reports
  • Perform other tasks as required by the International Programme Coordinator.


 

Qualifications and Experience: 

Education:  


Completed Secondary Level (High School) Education required. First level university degree in Midwifery, public health, Social Sciences, or other related fields is desirable.

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health programme support.
  • Experience in supporting reproductive health programs.
  • Good understanding of health systems and structure.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, in coordination with other related departments and organizations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages.

Languages: 

Fluency in Farsi and English is required.
