The HR Strategic Partner (HRSP) provides oversight and leads the delivery of professional, client-focused HR services in the region, partnering with senior managers to design and implement HR strategic solutions in line with UNFPA corporate and regional priorities. S/He facilitates the identification and meeting of Human Resource needs and objectives of the organization in the Region including supporting effective implementation of the Human Resources aspects of the UNFPA Strategic Plan and Business Model. The HRSP drives the alignment of HR Strategic initiatives, as detailed in the HR Strategy, with Regional business needs, guiding line management in applying HR policies and practices effectively.  The HRSP empowers clients to provide input to HR policy and practices in order to best meet the strategic needs of the Region. The HRSP drives HR strategic initiatives with strong communication skills, coaching and influencing, and offers thought-leadership regarding organisation/people related strategy and execution.

Qualifications and Experience 

A.    Education:

  • An advanced university degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Training, Organisational Development, Public Administration, Law, International Development or other relevant     social sciences. 

B.    Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum of ten years of progressively relevant experience in HR management of which several years at international level required;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with managerial responsibilities;
  • Proven knowledge of modern concepts and approaches in the field of Human Resources;
  • Strong strategic mind set for continuous improvement and a proven ability to switch between the big picture and the details of a portfolio of projects; demonstrated innovation and creative problem-solving abilities;
  • Excellent organisational, people and project management skills, with an ability to openly convey information to team members in a timely and concise manner;
  • Ability to handle confidential information;
  • Field experience is an asset;
  • Experience with international development/humanitarian organisations is an asset;
  • Consulting experience related to organisational development and change management, is desirable;
  • Initiative, strong conceptual abilities, sound judgment, ability to multi-task, robust drafting ability, resilience and an interest in development work.

C.    Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
