Preview of UNFPA country programme documents for 2016 first regular session of the Executive Board

02 November 2015

Global

New UNFPA country programme documents (CPDs) are presented the Executive Board for approval, in accordance with Executive Board decision 2014/7 on modifications to the procedures for considering and approving country programme documentation.

In line with the procedures, CPDs can be presented to any of the three sessions of the Executive Board, which considers and approves them in one single session.

In order to allow Board members the opportunity to review and comment on the CPDs ahead of the session, the draft CPDs are made available for preview by Board members 12 weeks ahead of a session.

For the upcoming 2016 first regular session (25-29 January 2016), five UNFPA country programme documents are for review:

  • Ethiopia, Iraq, Syrian Arab Republic, United Republic of Tanzania and Uruguay

These draft CPDs will be available for review and comment for three weeks, from 2 to 20 November.

Executive Board delegations are kindly requested to share their comments in a Word document attached to their email message no later than 20 November .

Please email comments on the CPDs to the Executive Board Branch of UNFPA, addressed to:

  • Mr. Horst Rutsch, Senior Editorial Advisor, Executive Board Branch, UNFPA (rutsch@unfpa.org), and
  • Ms. Lourdeth Ferguson, Editorial and Research Associate, Executive Board Branch, UNFPA (ferguson@unfpa.org)

We suggest the following format for the subject line of your email message:

“Comment on CPD for [name of country]”

All comments will be shared and discussed with the Government and UNFPA regional and country offices concerned, and incorporated in the final country programme document, as appropriate. Following this advance review by Board members, the final versions of the country programme documents will be posted on the Executive Board website in English on 15 December 2015 and in French and Spanish translations by 29 December 2015.

At the 2016 first regular session, the country programme documents will then be considered and approved by the Executive Board.
