Global Young Parliamentarians’ Dialogue

15 November 2011

Krabi, Thailand

The conference of young parliamentarians will provide a platform for the younger members of national legislatures to develop greater awareness and understanding of linkages between ICPD and attainment of population and development objectives focusing on population, sexual and reproductive heath, and gender equality. It aims to strengthen advocacy for mobilization of resources for these issues within national budgets, and to encourage participation and engagement of youth in population and development programmes.

In addition to learning from experts and senior legislators, the dialogue will create opportunities for young parliamentarians to discuss appropriate legislative measures and recommendations relating to post ICPD agenda, identify current policy gaps and formulate new advocacy strategies for addressing issues of concern. Continued advocacy on the part of young parliamentarians and government representatives is essential to ensure that family planning, reproductive health and rights, and population issues receive the priority attention they deserve.
