The Executive Board will hold its first regular session of the year from 29 January to 2 February. The UNFPA segment begins on 1 February, with a statement from Executive Director Dr. Natalia Kanem in the morning and a discussion of UNFPA evaluation policy as well as country programmes and related matters in the afternoon.

The UNFPA segment continues on the morning of 2 February, focusing on the adoption of pending decisions and other organizational matters, including the adoption of the tentative workplan for the annual session 2024.

Made up of representatives of 36 countries who serve on a rotating basis, the Executive Board provides intergovernmental support to and supervision of the activities of UNDP, UNFPA, and UNOPS in accordance with the policy guidance of the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council and the United Nations Charter.

The Executive Board ensures that UNDP, UNFPA and UNOPS remain responsive to the evolving needs of programme countries, and supports the work of UNFPA in delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled.

The Executive Board sessions, of which there are three a year, are broadcast on UN Web TV. In carrying out its work, UNFPA counts on the support, guidance and counsel of the Executive Board.
