Deputy Executive Director (Management)

Mr. Andrew Saberton has been appointed as UNFPA Deputy Executive Director for Management on 28 December 2023. In this role, Andrew will primarily oversee UNFPA’s engagement in UN Reform, its humanitarian response, fiduciary matters, human resources, information technology, supply chain management and the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.

He joined UNFPA in May 2009 as Chief of Accounts, promoted to Chief of Finance Branch 2 years later and again to Director, Division for Management Services in September 2016. Andrew joined the UN in 2001 with the Vienna-based United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), as Senior Finance Officer. Prior to joining the United Nations, he worked in the private sector as a Senior Enterprise Resource Planning consultant and held various increasingly senior financial and management accounting positions within the banking, travel, and financial services industry.

Mr. Saberton is a certified accountant and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, a Fellow of the Association of International Accountants and Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountants. He holds Diplomas in International Financial Reporting and International Public Sector Accounting Standards from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, respectively. He holds a Master of Science in Management from the University of Glamorgan, United Kingdom.
