Rohingya refugee mothers need your help to deliver their children safely

Over half a million Rohingya refugees currently live in Kutupalong, Bangladesh, the site of one of the largest and most overcrowded refugee camps in the world.

Among them are over 64,000 pregnant women who urgently need maternal health care. With the monsoon season underway, their need is more urgent than ever.

UNFPA is the lead agency on the ground providing life-saving services to ensure every childbirth is safe. But shortages of supplies and trained midwives continue to put the lives of mothers and newborns at risk.

How you can help

Your tax deductible donation will help Rohingya refugee mothers deliver their babies safely by funding clean delivery kits and trained midwives to assist mothers.

A clean delivery kit contains soap and disposable gloves, a plastic sheet that provides a clean surface to protect both mother and newborn, and a fresh razor blade, antiseptic and tape to prevent infection when the umbilical cord is cut.

Each midwife provides care before, during and after delivery that can save the lives of many mothers and newborns. UNFPA currently supports 60 midwives on the ground, but 100 more are needed to cover every pregnant woman. It costs just $400 a month to provide an additional midwife on the ground in Kutupalong.

A clean delivery can make the difference between life and death for pregnant moms
