The OAIS Investigations Branch is mandated to conduct independent investigations into all allegations of wrongdoing, committed either by staff (including those of harassment, abuse of authority, and sexual exploitation and abuse), or by independent contractors, implementing partners and other third parties, to the detriment of UNFPA.  The consultant is required to assist with investigations conducted by the Investigations Branch.

Do you have experience with:

- Preparing preliminary reviews and case assessments of allegations;

- Conducting investigations into allegations of misconduct/wrongdoing including, but not limited to, fraud, work place harassment, sexual harassment  and abuse of authority, regarding staff, vendors and third parties, whilst interacting with divisions/units/offices and other stake holders;

- Drafting, preparing and reviewing investigation and closure reports (setting out concise findings, analysis, conclusions and recommendations based on evidence), case closure notes, confidential memoranda, statistics, presentations;

- Updating case management system by ensuring that all evidence/information is captured;

- Participating in investigation missions.

Qualifications and Experience

Advanced university degree in law or closely related fields; first level university degree with a combination of significant relevant education, training and experience in the field of investigations may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.

A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.

Experience within an international investigation role in the UN context desirable.

Proven ability to conduct investigations and quickly and accurately analyze, assess and summarize investigation findings, observations and recommendations.

Excellent drafting skills.

Strong interviewing skills.

Fluency in English is required, working knowledge of other UN official languages desired

Please note travel may also be undertaken as required by individual investigation mission to the field; such missions may include travel to hardship duty stations.

Duration:  up to 11 months
