UNFPA Comoros

Comoros straddles four islands where there has been progress in improving health care services and decreasing maternal mortality. UNFPA programmes continue to help extend services, and to provide emergency obstetric care and family planning. UNFPA also aims to maintain the low prevalence of HIV/AIDS and to manage sexually transmitted infections. Other assistance aids in increasing the availability and use of timely and reliable demographic data, and integrating population variables into gender policies and development programmes.
