UNFPA FGM Hacklab

04 Oct 2021

EN FR AR

UNFPA East and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) in partnership with the UNFPA-UNICEF Joint Programme on the Elimination of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and the Spotlight Initiative Africa Regional Programme (SIARP) is launching the FGM InnovationHackLab Initiative which aims to involve African young people and African youth organizations in finding innovative solutions to end FGM. The initiative will ultimately contribute to building an Africa where every young woman and girl can exercise her right to bodily autonomy – the right to make decisions over her own life and future.

Therefore, UNFPA is calling young people, especially adolescents and girls, to submit innovation ideas and solutions which will eliminate and prevent FGM in the communities and/or across Africa. The initiative will solicit from youth and adolescents below 35 years old, creative, and smart innovation ideas that have the potential to be scaled up across Africa. We are encouraging young people to share with us bold and scalable ideas including potentially commercially viable ideas that can accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal of zero GBV and FGM within communities.

The call for innovation is open from 22 September 2021 till 11 October 2021.
