Ethiopia continues to face huge humanitarian challenges with conflict, displacement, and extended drought, floods and disease outbreaks driving need. Persistent food insecurity in Northern Ethiopia, and consecutive hazards in drought-affected areas, are increasing health risks and protection concerns. More than 20 million people are estimated to be in need of life-saving assistance, with 10 million people in need of protection services. Women and children make up more than two-thirds of the people in need of humanitarian assistance in Ethiopia in 2023.

This situation report highlights UNFPA Ethiopia's humanitarian response during March 2023 supporting services for sexual and reproductive health, prevention and response to gender-based violence, and mental health and psychosocial support.
