Ukraine Emergency Situation Report #13 - 18 October 2022

As winter approaches and humanitarian needs grow during escalating hostilities, UNFPA is working with partners to scale up the delivery of essential services for women and girls in most regions of Ukraine and neighboring countries. Another Survivor Relief Center was opened in Kyiv. Over 3,300 people have received support in the four centers now operating across Ukraine.
 
UNFPA Deputy Executive Director Ib Petersen and Regional Director Florence Bauer visited UNFPA programme sites in Ukraine and Moldova, consulting with partners on the need for UNFPA support.  
 
In Moldova, UNFPA delivered life-saving sexual and reproductive health equipment to modernize 9 medical institutions serving refugees, equipping 22 delivery rooms, 14 operating threatres for gynaecological surgeries, and 8 intensive care units for newborns.
