Ukraine Emergency Situation Report #11 – 5 August 2022

As the war in Ukraine enters its sixth month, attacks in the country’s south intensify. Some 12.1 million people are estimated to need health assistance, and 15.7 million require protection assistance and services in Ukraine.

To date, UNFPA has delivered 97 metric tons of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) supplies in Ukraine and Moldova. In Ukraine, 81 metric tons of essential health and medicine supplies were delivered to service delivery points across 38 referral-level maternity hospitals. An additional 70 mobile psychosocial support teams are now operating, bringing the total number to 101. The teams bring support to GBV survivors in 21 regions of Ukraine and facilitate access to services in the most hard-to-reach areas, rural districts and war-torn cities.

Moreover, a new Youth Orange Safe Space was opened in Moldova to provide life-saving support and protection for young Roma refugees from Ukraine, while in Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, documentation of the SRH needs and experiences of Ukrainian refugees – and the civil society organisations and human rights defenders supporting them – is underway as part of a joint project with the Center for Reproductive Rights.
