Scaling up interventions are relevant to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals to end harmful practices such as early, child and forced marriage by 2030. This technical note aims to promote a common understanding of key concepts and to provide guidance on approaches to working at scale in the UNFPA-UNICEF Global Programme to End Child Marriage.

This note draws on literature about scaling up development programmes, as well as strategies from Phase I of the Global Programme. In this technical note you will find key definitions, scaling-up typologies, in-country examples alongside critical elements to consider when going to scale, and the challenges that practitioners in the field should consider for programming.
