More than a month after the flash flood on 26 August, communities across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading districts continue to face displacement and disrupted access to essential health and protection services. Approximately 352,000 people have been affected, including an estimated 98,560 women of reproductive age. To date, 1,453 deaths have been reported, while 5,285 people remain unaccounted for.
Between 10 and 30 September, UNFPA and its partners reached 2,722 people across seven municipalities with life-saving sexual and reproductive health services, as well as gender-based violence prevention and response services.
UNFPA requires US$3.5 million to implement its six-month flood response in Nepal. As of the end of September, US$1.64 million had been received, leaving a gap of US$1.86 million. This funding is urgently needed to ensure the continuity and restoration of essential sexual and reproductive health services, gender-based violence prevention and response, psychosocial support, and assistance to meet the dignity needs of affected women and girls.
