Situation Report on the Crisis in Sudan - July 2026

Ongoing hostilities and heavy rains and flooding have intensified humanitarian needs across Sudan. The deteriorating security situation in Kordofan, Blue Nile and Darfur continues to drive repeated displacement while severely restricting access to humanitarian assistance.

In late July, heavy rains in White Nile State damaged a UNFPA-supported maternity clinic and 1,104 shelters. Flooding also affected more than 1,200 displaced and host-community households in Khor Ajwal and Rabak localities.

In July, UNFPA-supported partners delivered essential sexual and reproductive health services across 52 localities in 17 states in Sudan. Skilled birth attendance was provided for 6,762 deliveries and 14,335 antenatal care and 4,018 postnatal care visits were conducted.

UNFPA and its partners also reached more than 90,000 people across Sudan with essential gender-based violence prevention, risk mitigation and response services, with women and girls accounting for 96 per cent of those reached.

To continue addressing the urgent and life-saving sexual and reproductive health and protection needs in Sudan, UNFPA requires US$129.2 million. As of July, the appeal was only 34 per cent funded, leaving an $86 million shortfall and putting critical services for women and girls at risk.
