Situation Report on the Crisis in Lebanon (17-30 April 2026)

Despite the formal announcement of a ceasefire, daily violations, including bombardment, shelling, airstrikes, demolitions, and movement restrictions, continue, particularly in the south and Nabatieh and Bekaa governorates. This has further jeopardized civilian lives in southern Lebanon, impeded the return of displaced populations, and constrained humanitarian access and delivery. The security environment remains unpredictable, with persistent access constraints and residual threats continuing to disrupt safe returns, humanitarian operations, and health service delivery, especially in southern Lebanon.

Since 2 March 2026, UNFPA has reached more than 80,000 displaced people with sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and gender-based violence (GBV) services. This was achieved through support to 55 health facilities, nine mobile medical units, 21 mobile GBV teams, and nine women’s and girls’ safe spaces serving 200 collective shelters and host communities.

UNFPA’s Flash Appeal for US $12 million remains severely underfunded, with only $2.9 million mobilized to date. This shortfall is seriously undermining the ability of UNFPA to sustain the delivery of life-saving SRH and protection services, while the needs of women and girls continue to increase significantly.
