Flash Update on El Obeid, North Kordofan, Sudan (3-19 July 2026)

The humanitarian situation in North Kordofan continues to deteriorate. Between 1 and 19 July, 21 drone-related incidents were recorded, resulting in civilian casualties, damage to critical infrastructure, and further disruptions to the already limited access to essential services.

Access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services and protection from and response to gender-based violence (GBV) remain severely limited in North Kordofan due to the security situation, damaged and overstretched health facilities and service delivery points, and shortages of qualified health personnel, essential medicines, and medical supplies. In addition, water shortages, inadequate sanitation, and deteriorating living conditions are increasing health risks for women and girls, particularly pregnant and lactating women.

An additional US $1.83 million is urgently required for UNFPA to sustain and scale up preparedness and response activities for SRH and GBV interventions for conflict-affected women and girls in North Kordofan and White Nile states.
