2020 Annual Report on FGM: Eliminating Female Genital Mutilation in Fragile Contexts- COVID-19 Case Study

The 2020 annual report of the global Joint Programme on the Elimination of Female Genital Mutilation presents the progress made thus far in the implementation of the Joint Programme focusing on the experiences recorded in preventing, mitigating and responding to the increased risk of girls undergoing FGM during the pandemic. It also presents the achievements of the programme in 2020, which are key in setting the baseline for 2021 – the final year of Phase III of the Joint Programme.

 

The 2020 annual report is presented in a sequenced format featuring six sub-reports. The report on Eliminating Female Genital Mutilation in Fragile Contexts-Case Study of COVID-19 in particular provides good practices and lessons learned during the COVID-19 crisis in 2020, including the Joint Porgramme’s approach to adapting and innovating interventions to ensure continuity during the crisis, in addition to the progress made in advancing the humanitarian-development-peace nexus approach.
