This report documents progress during the third year of the Joint Programme. In 2010, the programme was implemented in Burkina Faso, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Egypt, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Senegal, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda, with Eritrea, Mali and Mauritania also receiving some technical and financial assistance.

The report includes a table summarizing the achievements of the programme based on 10 indicators. It also lists a number of quantitative achievements, such as number of community declarations of abandonment, declarations by religious leaders, and community education sessions held, among others.

In 2010, the programme began looking for ways to help address the mental anquish of women who had been cut, only to learn that the procedure served no valid moral or cultural purpose.
