See Us, Hear Us, Count Us In: #VoicesOfTheDecade, an event co-organized by the United Nations Department of Global Communications, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), marks the midterm review of the implementation of the International Decade for People of African Descent (2014-2025), which advocates for justice, recognition and development to ensure people of African descent can exercise their full human rights.

Intergenerational Action for Bodily Autonomy: Accelerating Sustainable Development Goal 3

The 2021 High Level Political Forum (HLPF) will discuss ways to ensure a sustainable and resilient recovery from COVID-19, particularly focusing on how the international community can build an inclusive and effective path for the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. As part of the discussions, SDGs 3, 5, 10 and 16, among others, will come into focus.

High-Level Meeting on AIDS

Nordic Talks

All women have a right to bodily autonomy, the power and agency to make decisions governing their own bodies and futures, yet nearly half of women in 57 developing countries are denied that right. 

UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Natalia Kanem takes part in the virtual debate “Let’s Talk About Sex: Bodily Autonomy and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights” with Flemming Møller Mortensen, Danish Minister for International Development and Nordic Cooperation, and Natasha Wang Mwansa, adolescent sexual and reproductive health rights expert. Katja Iversen will moderate, and two-time world champion poet and UNCHR Goodwill Ambassador Emi Mahmoud will introduce the event, meant to inspire taking action toward gender equality around the world.
