Multiple Forms of Violence Impact Internally-Displaced Women in Syria

Resource date: Oct 2019

EN

Though millions have fled, 13 million internally displaced persons remain in Syria, including 3.8 million women and adolescent girls of reproductive age faced with limited to no access to reproductive health care, heightened risk of gender-based violence and the mental health repercussions of eight years of war. Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) has been integrated into all 291 UNFPA-supported facilities. Building capacity through MHPSS training is expanding services and focusing on people with disabilities. UNFPA supported 31 Women and Girls Safe Spaces and 168 PSS mobile teams in 2018 through September 2019, reaching 164,000 people with MHPSS services.
