The Position:

The Programme Analyst:  Humanitarian-Development Nexus Programming for Adolescents and Youth (AY) is located in the Cox’s Bazar Sub-Office of UNFPA Bangladesh and reports to the Technical Specialist, Adolescent and Youth.

Job Purpose:

The Programme Analyst:  Humanitarian-Development Nexus Programming for Adolescents and Youth (AY) substantively contributes to the effective management of UNFPA’s humanitarian-development nexus programming activities for adolescents and youth in Cox’s Bazar.  S/he will provide substantive inputs to project formulation, implementation and evaluation, support joint programming initiatives and analyze and assess relevant political, social and economic trends in relation to humanitarian-development nexus programming. S/he will guide and facilitate the delivery of UNFPA’s programmes in Cox’s Bazar by monitoring results achieved during the implementation of interventions and ensure the appropriate application of systems and procedures by all Implementing Partners.  In close collaboration with the Technical Specialist AY, and the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and and Gender Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE) units and the M&E unit in Cox’s Bazar, the Programme Analyst:  Humanitarian-Development Nexus Programming for Adolescents and Youth (AY) will work closely with government authorities, humanitarian agencies, civil society and local counterparts to promote collaborative information exchange for driving more effective humanitarian assistance to Rohingya Refugees and immediate host communities.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

Education:  

Advanced degree in health, population, demography and/or other related social science field.

Knowledge and Experience: 

• At least two years’ professional experience in the field of humanitarian, development and/or humanitarian-development nexus programming, preferably in programme/ project management.

• Experience in preparing donor reports is a must.

• Ability to present to local and international audience on programme achievements and challenges an advantage.

• Experience in humanitarian/development/peace-building programming and operations, preferably with the UN.

• Demonstrated experience in coordinating and liaising with a range of IPs, both government and non-government at district level, including communities.

• Expertise in capacity development, knowledge management and communication in relation to A&Y SRHR issue and capacity building tools on the subject and their application.

• A strong understanding of human rights-based approach to humanitarian work and results-based management.

• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, networking, and negotiation skills.

• Ability to self-manage, emotional intelligence, empathy, team spirit, conflict management as well as negotiating skills. 

• Ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and concisely, both in written and oral forms. Excellent English writing skills, communications skills, and inter-personal skills.

• Ability to deal with culturally and religiously sensitive and complex issues skillfully and at different levels.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.

Languages: 

Fluency in English is required and working knowledge of another UN language an asset. 

Other Desirable Skills:

Proficiency in current office software and statistical applications.
