The Position: 

The Sexual and Reproductive Health Specialist post is located in the Liaison, Policy and Advocacy Unit (LPAU), Humanitarian Office, New York. Under the direct supervision of the Coordination Adviser, the post is part of an integrated, multidisciplinary team and contributes to strengthening global preparedness and risk analysis agenda as part of a multidisciplinary team. S/he produces evidence-based analysis for integrated technical guidance and support for the implementation of policies and programmes, with a focus on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Emergencies. The post is the anchor for humanitarian knowledge management and dissemination across the levels of the organization.
 

Education:

Advanced degree in social sciences, humanitarian practice, international development, public health, community health or related field.

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • 5 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in humanitarian programming in the field, including experience in sexual and reproductive health in emergencies;
  • Familiarity with IASC and other humanitarian coordination mechanisms, guiding principles and standards;
  • Experience in programme development and management and reporting
  • Excellent command of English and working knowledge of French is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, creativity, strong project management skills, a positive and outgoing personality, and ability to interact successfully with people of different backgrounds and cultures.

Languages:
 

  • Fluency in English – oral and written;
  • Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
