The Position

The Results Monitoring Analyst provides technical support for the: a) collection, validation, analysis and dissemination of quantitative and qualitative data on results from UNFPA units; b) implementation of policies, tools, guidance and systems for results planning, monitoring and reporting; c) development of guidance and training materials; d) preparation of data briefs and presentations on results in visually compelling ways; e) review and quality assurance of results plans and reports; and f) research on innovative methodologies for results measurement, monitoring and reporting.

The main responsibilities of the Results Monitoring Analyst are:

  • Provide support for the implementation of policies, tools, guidance, systems and capacity building on results planning, monitoring and reporting;
  • Collection, validation, analysis and dissemination of quantitative and qualitative data on results from UNFPA units;
  • Contribute to initiatives for quality assurance of results planning and reporting.

Organizational Setting

The Results Monitoring Analyst is located in the Policy, Strategy Information and Planning Branch (PSIPB) of the Policy and Strategy Division (PSD). Under the direct supervision of the Results Monitoring Adviser, provides support to the delivery of the results planning, monitoring and reporting functions assigned to PSD. 

 

Qualifications and Experience

Education: 

Post-graduate university degree in one of the following disciplines: economics, statistics, demography, data management, international affairs, international development, public administration, management or other related field.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience in programme data management, data quality assurance;
  • Demonstrated expertise with data management software and strong quantitative and qualitative data collection, processing and analytical skills;
  • Excellent analytical and communications skills required;
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Knowledge of the United Nations system, dedication to the principles of the United Nations and strong interest in development work, especially the mission of the United Nations Population Fund;
  • Initiative, strong conceptual abilities, sound judgment, liaison skills and management skills are also highly desirable;
  • Knowledge of results-based management approach;
  • Strong communications and writing skills in English; and,
  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment;

Languages: 

  • Fluency and full working knowledge in English is required.
  • Working knowledge of another United Nations official language such as French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or Russian is an asset.
