The Position:

The Data Analyst for Gender is responsible for maintaining, strengthening, leading and managing data information systems that substantially contribute to the gender, adolescent and youth, and sexual and reproductive health programme development. S/he provides technical and programme support and guidance to UNFPA staff and partners on gender disaggregated data to inform policy- and decision-making and programming. Under the supervision of the Population & Development and Human Rights Programme Specialist, the Data Analyst expedites and coordinates implementation activities in the substantive area, establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies, implementing partners, experts, government and civil society counterparts and other UN agencies, facilitating timely and efficient delivery of programme results and addressing training needs of involved institutions. The Data Analyst also serves as a technical resource in her/his field of specialty for all stakeholders of UNFPA country Programme.

Job Purpose:

The Data Analyst plays a proactive role in providing technical support to ensure that quality, disaggregated and globally comparable gender data, including on gender-based violence and harmful practices (GBV/HP) are collected, analyzed and used to drive the effective achievement of UNFPA programme activities, accelerating progress on the ICPD agenda and associated SDGs in Mozambique. S/he accelerates progress towards the development of an overall national data system for Mozambique which can allow the collection, registry, processing, analysis, update, and management of cases to track incident histories and review service capacity.  Based on this, the production of timely, accessible and quality reports, with data disaggregation by administrative division, social status, race, sex, age, education and/or professional status would be possible.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

Education: 

Master’s degree in gender studies, statistics, demography, social develo

pment, or other related disciplines.

Knowledge and experience:

Minimum of 2 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the substantive area, preferably in information systems management in public, NGO and/or international institutions.

Field experience is required.

Knowledge and understanding of quantitative assessments, data collection, analysis and reporting, especially in relation to demographic analysis and gender.

Good knowledge of the programme development mechanism of the United Nations country programmes and familiarity with UNFPA programmes and policies.

Language Requirements:

Excellent oral and written communication in English and Portuguese.
