Position Summary:

 

The post is located in the GBV AoR Coordination team in the Inter-Agency and External Coordination Unit (IECU), Humanitarian Office, Geneva. Under the oversight of the Global Coordinator, GBV AoR, Humanitarian Office, the incumbent provides analytical research and documentation support and facilitates information exchange in the GBV AOR.

 

The Global GBV AoR leads and coordinates the activities and initiatives of the inter-agency mechanism for ensuring life-saving, predictable, accountable and effective GBV prevention, risk mitigation and response in emergencies, both natural disaster and conflict-related humanitarian contexts. This Programme Analyst advances the work of the AoR towards strengthening system-wide preparedness and provision of technical capacity for GBV response in humanitarian emergencies.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

Education: 

 

Advanced degree in social sciences, gender studies, humanitarian practice, international development, public health or related field.

 

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 2 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in humanitarian programming in the field, including experience in GBV in emergencies;
  • Familiarity with IASC and other humanitarian coordination mechanisms, guiding principles and standards;
  • Experience needed in programme development and management and reporting
  • Excellent command of English and French required;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, creativity, strong project management skills, a positive and outgoing personality, and ability to interact successfully with people of different backgrounds and cultures.

Language:

  • Fluency in English and French – oral and written required;
  • Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
