Job Summary

Under the overall guidance of the UNFPA Representative in Brazil and the direct supervision of the Assistant Representative, the RHR Programme Specialist contributes substantively and strategically to the effective achievement of UNFPA Brazil activities in the area of sexual and reproductive health, with a specific focus in the area of reproductive health commodity security as a fundamental element for accelerating progress on the ICPD +20 agenda in the context of the SDG Agenda 2030.

The RHR Programme Specialist analyses, advises and assesses relevant political, social and economic trends and provides substantive and strategic inputs towards positioning UNFPA Brazil with a focus on identifying opportunities and areas of cooperation in view of  programme formulation specifically in the area of RHCS as they relate to national development frameworks.

The RHR Programme Specialist establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with counterparts in government, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donor agencies and civil society to address emerging issues. He/she must effectively influence counterparts from diverse backgrounds to jointly contribute to achieving UNFPA’s mandate.

The RHR Programme Specialist is a substantive contributor to the program team in the Country Office.

Education:

Advanced University Degree in Health, Public Health, Health Economics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or similar.

Knowledge and Experience: 

• 10 years of experience in health policy design, management and/or implementation.

• Management of UN/UNFPA technical, administrative and financial procedures (desirable)

• Knowledge and/or previous expertise on logistics management information systems, pharmaceutical markets, supply management and regulatory structures, norms and organizations in the public sector.

Languages: 

• Fluency in Portuguese.

• Knowledge of English and/or Spanish is desirable.
