The Position:
The Gender Officer will provide technical support to the field level programme of assistance on gender-responsive, culturally sensitive, human rights based approach to programming. You will work in close collaboration with the Field Programme Team and Area Programme Officers.
You will report directly to the National Programme Officer - Gender/Gender-based Violence in the UNFPA Manila Country Office.

Job Purpose:
UNFPA will assist the Government of the Philippines under the 8th Country Programme of Support from 2019 to 2023 to fully implement existing laws, policies and programmes in development and humanitarian settings such as the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health (RPRH) Law and Magna Carta of Women.
You will mainstream human-rights based approach and gender equality across the country programme and ensure that efforts to address gender-based violence is integrated across the continuum of humanitarian intervention to development programming.
You are a substantive contributor to the programme team in the Country Office.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Advanced degree in a field of study relevant to UNFPA’s mandate, such as sociology, anthropology, social sciences, women’s studies, public health, public administration, international relations, international development or other related field.
Knowledge and Experience:
Relevant work experience in the area of development work, gender and development, social work, public health, public administration, gender equality and women’s empowerment preferably at the LGU/community level would be desirable. Experience in working on gender-based violence prevention and response in both ‘normal’ and humanitarian settings an advantage.
Languages:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including fluency in English and national language.
