The Position:

The Family Planning and Supply Chain Management (FP & SCM) Officer, working under the overall supervision of the UNFPA Regional Coordinator and technical guidance of the Senior RH/FP Specialist is responsible for the oversight and management of the FP & SCM activities. S/he will work in close coordination with the Health and Population unit under the Ministry of Social Development at the Provincial Level, including related Divisions/centers, UN agencies, I/NGOs and implementing partners. 

Job Purpose:

The purpose of the position is to manage effective and timely implementation of UNFPA’s FP & SCM programme implementation at the provincial and local level.  Currently, UNFPA has two major projects in FP & SCM. They include 1) UNFPA Family Planning Project (UNFPP) funded by the DFID, with ongoing implementation at national and local level. Similarly, through the UNFPA Supplies Thematic Trust Fund, FP & SCM interventions are on-going. Both the projects are implemented in close coordination with the Government of Nepal/Ministry of Health and Population and its respective divisions. Both projects will continue until 2020/21.  

Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

Education: 

Advanced Degree in Public Health, Social Science, Procurement, Supply Chain Management and/or other related field.

Knowledge and Experience:

At last 2 years or more professional experience in planning, programming, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health programmes, preferably in the area of reproductive health and family planning

Solid technical knowledge and experience of supply chain management (procurement, forecasting, warehousing, distribution, logistics and e-LMIS), health systems strengthening and health financing preferred

Good analytical skills and ability to handle complexity and diverse local contexts as well as effective engagement with a range of stakeholders and programme interventions

Experience of working with Government and Non-Government partners at the national and sub-national level, with knowledge of decentralized health systems strengthening

Excellent writing and communications skills and ability to prepare succinct reports

Excellent computer knowledge and skills.
