International Programme Coordinator, Islamabad, Pakistan, P-4

Level: P-4
Contract Type: Fixed Term Appointment
Closing date: 30 July 2020 - 5:00pm(New York time)
Duty station: Islamabad
Job ID: 31638

The Position:
The International Programme Coordinator is responsible for the management of the project titled “Sihat Mand Khaandaan: Healthy Families for Pakistan through Accelerated Reproductive Health and Family Planning Services”, which is funded by the Government of Canada, with the total budget of 21 million Canadian dollars for the period of 2020-2024.
Since the project consists of several components, the International Programme Coordinator works in an integrated manner with the programme and technical staff in UNFPA Pakistan and leads the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the project activities in the areas of women’s and youth reproductive health, gender and population and development.
You will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with relevant counterparts in government institutions, Aga Khan Foundation, civil society and UN agencies to enable women, adolescents and youth in Pakistan to realize their full potential and fully contribute to their communities. The project is expected to directly benefit approximately 903148 women, adolescent girls, men and boys and to provide capacity building support to more than 3000 intermediary beneficiaries, including health workers and service providers.
Under the overall guidance of the UNFPA Representative and Deputy Representative’s direct supervision, you will expand the range of UNFPA deliverables in Pakistan within the ICPD agenda based on national priorities and in collaboration with federal and provincial stakeholders.
How you can make a difference:

UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled.  UNFPA’s new strategic plan (2018-2021), focuses on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths; end unmet need for family planning; and end gender-based violence and harmful practices.
In the face of developmental challenges in Pakistan, including gaps in fulfilment of women’s reproductive health and  rights, the need for significant expansion of infrastructure and services to serve a larger population, the difficulty in achieving education goals with the growth of its school-aged population and a less favorable age structure for economic development, UNFPA is seeking candidates that transform, inspire and deliver high impact and sustained results; we need principled and ethical staff, who embody human rights norms and standards, and who will defend them courageously and with full conviction; we need staff who are transparent, exceptional in how they manage the resources entrusted to them and who commit to deliver excellence in programme results.
Job Purpose:
In a highly complex operating environment, you will play a vital role in promoting partnership, synergy and strategic alliances with counterparts in government, multi-lateral and bi-lateral agencies and civil society.
You will play a leadership role with the project team in the management of activities in the areas of women’s health, adolescents and youth empowerment, ensuring linkages with population dynamics and gender, and provide information on achievement of results in the implementation of the project.
You will facilitate and coordinate technical advisers and experts and contribute to advocacy and policy dialogue.
