Consultancy - Back up Driver for the Office of the Executive Director

Purpose of Consultancy:

Placed within the Office of the Security Coordinator (OSC), the back up driver would support the Executive Director as required and provide personnel transportation or transportation of UN material for UNFPA. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties, responsibilities of the backup driver are the similar to the TORs of the primary driver.

The backup driver works directly under the direction of the Chief, Office of the Security Coordinator
(OSC) and provides safe, secure, attentive and quality driving services to the Executive Director and
visiting VIPs/missions, and fulfillment of other security and administrative tasks as required.

Driving and Maintenance
• Drive the Executive Director and other high-ranking officials and carry out all assignments requested by the Executive Director.
• Coordinate the safe, confidential delivery of official documents required by the Executive Director with the Office of the Executive Director (OED).
• Ensure full maintenance of vehicle (mechanical) and record of expenditure related to vehicle maintenance/parking etc in accordance with required procedures.
• Coordinate repairs and services with Facilities Management Branch. Maintains special security enhancements to the vehicle.
• Maintain an up to date Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil change, greasing, etc.
• Ensure the full functioning of the assigned vehicle, both in terms of safety and security and operations, including maintenance of emergency first aid equipment within the vehicle.

Safety and Security
• Monitor, review and analyze media and analyze security information provided by UNDSS
• Liaise with law enforcement authorities and other security professionals on issues related to the Executive Director Safety and security.
• Reviews security situation of country visits where the Executive Director will travel in conjunction with the Security Coordinator. Advise of specific security concerns and necessary mitigation measures.
• Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
• Perform advance security functions of areas/venues likely to be visited by the Executive Director in host country and ensure vehicle and locations are secured.
• Assist the Security Coordinator with security functions as required.

Learning
• Spends 5% of working time on learning and self-development in the area of VIP Protection and Defensive Driving Techniques.
• Keep abreast of International Security trends and VIP Protection Methods.
