The Position:

The selected professional will report to the Coordinator of the EWEC Secretariat to help execute communications activities to raise visibility, brand awareness and support for the EWEC movement as a front runner platform to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Activities will focus on EWEC’s online and social media presence, especially content production, publishing and monitoring.

Launched by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon during the United Nations Millennium Development Goals Summit in September 2010, Every Woman Every Child  is an unprecedented global movement that mobilizes and intensifies international and national action by governments, multilaterals, the private sector and civil society to address the major health challenges facing women, children and adolescents around the world. The movement puts into action the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health, which presents a roadmap to ending all preventable deaths of women, children and adolescents within a generation and ensuring their well-being.

Job Purpose:

You will play a vital role in supporting the Coordinator of the EWEC Secretariat with the execution of communications activities to raise visibility, brand awareness and support for the EWEC movement with a focus on EWEC’s online and social media presence.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

Education:  

Advanced university degree in marketing, digital marketing, public relations or advertising is required.

Knowledge and Experience: 

● 5 years of experience at international level, especially with the United Nations.

● Proven ability to implement communications activities, preferably in the area of international development and with a focus on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH).

● Knowledge of content creation and digital marketing, of public relations tools and techniques, and of the entire publication or production processes, including digital publishing or production, and excellent writing skills in English and another UN language.

● Knowledge of social media best practices, content creation and marketing, and basic monitoring skills.

● Knowledge of and ability to handle content management systems.

● Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills required. 

● Self-starter, proactive, passion for the issues.

● Experience in direct advertising/marketing, public relations, public information, and digital marketing experience would be a clear advantage.

● Knowledge of public relations or marketing skills desirable.

Languages: 

Fluency in English essential; working knowledge of another UN language desirable.
