Peace Through Music: A Global Event for the Environment

15 December 2021

Online

The harmful effects of human activity on the environment are affecting populations and their ecosystems around the world, threatening to delay development efforts by decades. Those with the fewest resources and opportunities will be the most susceptible, particularly the most vulnerable populations. Climate change multiplies existing inequalities and vulnerabilities, disrupts access to life-saving health services, and limits people's ability to exercise their fundamental rights and options.

This is why, through the universal language of music and the art of storytelling, Peace Through Music: A Global Event for the Environment will raise global awareness and call for action for environmental sustainability. Following its success in 2020, this year the event seeks to promote the unity and shared purpose that resonate at the heart of humanity with the goal of protecting our only home - our planet.

Led by UNFPA and Playing For Change, Peace Through Music will air on December 15 at 6 p.m. PST / 9 p.m. EST (2 a.m. GMT on December 16) on the Playing For Change YouTube Channel.

It will feature global musical artists such as Black Pumas, Jack Johnson, Keb ’Mo’, Mickey Hart, Sara Bareilles, Slash, The Lumineers, Yusuf / Cat Stevens, Baaba Maal, Ben Harper, Zakir Hussain and many more.
