2013 International Conference on Family Planning

12 November 2013

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Thousands of political leaders, researchers, young people, and advocates in the field of family planning and reproductive health are coming together in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the third International Conference on Family Planning from 10-15 November to call attention to the wide-ranging benefits of helping people plan their families—including improved maternal and child heath, increased educational attainment, and greater economic opportunity.

UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund is proud to partner in pre-conference and conference activities, with a focus on universal access to reproductive health especially, especially young people and other vulnerable groups.

On November 10-11, UNFPA will take part in a series of pre-conference meetings and events focusing on youth and the needs of young people.

On November 12, more than 20 Ministers of Finance and Planning, Health, Youth, and Gender are among the leaders who will convene to discuss the investments needed—especially in family planning—to meet the needs of Africa’s youth today, and to maximize their future potential for national development. The High-Level Ministerial Meeting will be held in conjunction with the third International Conference on Family Planning.
