This high-level side event, to be held on the margins of the fifty-ninth session of the Commission on Population and Development, will focus on ending preventable maternal deaths across Africa, highlighting African-led solutions.

Hosted by UNFPA along with the African Union Commission, the African Union Development Agency and select UN Member States, the event will bring together leaders from government, healthcare, innovation and finance to demonstrate how innovation is shaping and changing the efforts to eliminate maternal deaths in Africa and the critical role of catalytic capital in accelerating progress.

The event will also illustrate how African-led initiatives are improving access to essential maternal health commodities through regional pooled procurement.
