Commission on Population and Development, 49th session

The 49th session of the Commission on Population and Development will take place at UN headquarters in New York from 11-15 April. This year’s special theme is “Strengthening the demographic evidence base for the post-2015 development agenda." The Commission is tasked with identifying ways to integrate population issues into the new sustainable development agenda.

The Commission will address numerous challenges crucial to achieving sustainable development, including in the areas of family planning, migration, fertility and urbanization, as well as others.
